Located in Wagoner County, Tullahassee was one of more than fifty all-Black towns in Oklahoma and is one of only thirteen still surviving.

Originally a Post Office, and then a General Store, the AJ Mason building, currently on the National Register, was the soul and economic engine of the community. While the building may currently be in disrepair, it is still the soul of the community, filled with history, stories, and emotions. The community plans to revive the building as a welcome center – reigniting the town and bringing new life to the region.

Sofola’s role is to provide Owners Representative services to the Town of Tullahassee, guiding them through the planning, design, and restoration process. Sofola is also assisting the town with applying for grants to fund the work.
